Then vs Now
As we celebrate 10 years at Essendon, let’s take a moment to reflect on how things have changed since 2014.
Remote Working
In 2014, only 13.9% of people worked remotely – it was far from the norm. However, fast forward to 2024, after the pandemic and widespread office closures, that number has risen to 16%.

Tax Returns
When Essendon opened its doors, we were eager to assist people with their accounts and taxes. Every year, we help clients with their tax returns, but how has this changed since 2014?
Back then, 11.3 million self-assessments were due, and 890,000 of those missed the all-important deadline! Fast forward to 2024, and this figure has climbed to 12.1 million, with a staggering 1.1 million missing the deadline.

Cuppa Anyone?
At Essendon, we love a good cup of tea. Over the past 10 years, we’ve gone through thousands of tea bags, but how has the cost of tea changed?
In 2014, 250g of tea would have set you back around £1.93. Fast forward to 2024, and that same amount now costs £2.62! We might have to start cutting back on our tea consumption at this rate!

McDonald’s
McDonald’s may not have changed much in the past 10 years, but their prices certainly have!
Back in 2014, you could enjoy a Big Mac for just £2.79, or £4.99 for a meal. Over the past decade, prices have steadily increased, with a Big Mac now costing £4.89 and £6.69 for a meal. Despite the price hike, it seems that no one has been deterred from lovin’ it!
